The Tapicap project involves the custom design of office desks for Tapicap Carpets, a carpet-selling company based in Athens, Greece, completed in 2016. Since my goal was to refresh a workspace that had been in operation for almost 40 years and create a brighter, more contemporary environment for everyday office tasks was created with ergonomics.
The core idea was to introduce plain white work surfaces in a room with virtually no natural sunlight, using the white planes to reflect artificial light and visually open up the space. Also, warm wood textures were added to the desks and storage units to keep the work environment comfortable and inviting for daily use, while maintaining a clear connection to the tactile quality of the company’s carpet products.
To underline the renewal of the brand, the furniture uses futuristic volumes and angular shapes, giving the office a dynamic, forward-looking character. Furthermore, integrated storage, floating elements and layered surfaces create a functional layout that supports productivity, while at the same time transforming the long-established Tapicap Carpets office into a fresh, design-driven workspace.
